# reshape tools

> Builds a value in a new JSON shape from the input, with no process and no model call.

Builds a value in a new JSON shape from the input, with no process and no model call. Leaf strings are templates; a leaf that is exactly one template keeps the value's type.

These fields go alongside the [common fields](/tools/reference/tool-file#common-fields), with `kind: reshape`.

## Fields

**shape** `any`

The output shape, as a JSON tree whose leaf strings are templates over `{{input.*}}`.

**caller\_shape** `boolean` (default: false)

Take `shape` from the call's input instead.
