# graph tool test

> Invoke a tool directly

Calls the tool and prints its result. With `--json`, prints `{tool, isError, result}`; a tool that reports an error still exits 0, with `isError` set.

## Arguments

**NAME** `string` *required*

The tool's namespaced name, as `graph tool list` prints it

**JSON|@FILE|-** `string`

Input as a JSON object: inline (`'{"a":1}'`), `@file.json`, or `-` for stdin

## Options

**--input** `string[]`

Override individual input keys (applied on top of the JSON document)

Format: `KEY=VALUE`.

**--json** `boolean`

Print a JSON envelope instead of text

## Global options

**-v, --verbose** `integer`

Increase log verbosity (-v info, -vv debug, -vvv trace)

```bash Usage theme={null}
graph tool test [OPTIONS] <NAME> [JSON|@FILE|-]
```

```bash Example 1 theme={null}
graph tool test github__tool__git_log '{"base":"v0.15.0","head":"HEAD"}'
```

```bash Example 2 theme={null}
graph tool test github__tool__git_log --input base=v0.15.0 --input head=HEAD --json
```
