# graph plan step rename

> Rename a step, rewriting every downstream {{id.*}} reference

Renames a step and rewrites every reference to it in later steps, the `output` map and the `solver` templates.

## Arguments

**NAME|PATH** `string` *required*

The plan's identifier or YAML file path

**ID** `string` *required*

The step's id

**NEW\_ID** `string` *required*

The new step id

## Options

**--json** `boolean`

Print a JSON envelope instead of text

## Global options

**-v, --verbose** `integer`

Increase log verbosity (-v info, -vv debug, -vvv trace)
