# graph pack new

> Scaffold a pack in a directory of a packs repository: manifest, one tool, plan and agent, README, CHANGELOG and MIGRATING.md

Writes the files from a scaffold built into graph, so it works offline, into \<PATH>/\<NAME>/, which is created when missing and refused when it holds anything. A packs repository holds one pack per directory, each released as `<NAME>/vX.Y.Z` tags. When the repository has no `.github/workflows/packs.yaml`, it also gets one that runs `graph pack test` over every pack, and a `.gitignore` for `.graph/` when it has none. The scaffold passes `graph pack check` and `graph pack test` as written.

## Arguments

**NAME** `string` *required*

The pack's name, written into pack.toml and used as its directory: lowercase letters, digits and underscores, at most 20 characters

**PATH** `string` (default: .)

The packs repository's root; the pack goes in \<PATH>/\<NAME>/

## Options

**--json** `boolean`

Print a JSON envelope instead of text

## Global options

**-v, --verbose** `integer`

Increase log verbosity (-v info, -vv debug, -vvv trace)

```bash Usage theme={null}
graph pack new [OPTIONS] <NAME> [PATH]
```

```bash Example 1 theme={null}
graph pack new files
```

```bash Example 2 theme={null}
graph pack new files ../graph-packs
```
